Prayers at the thanksgiving eucharist held at St Martin-in-the-Fields Church, Trafalgar Square, London, on Wednesday 1 July 2015 for the Revd Canon Geoffrey Brown (1 April 1930 to 27 May 2015). Geoffrey was vicar of this church for a transformational decade, from 1985 to 1995, whose results could not be more compelling today. The present vicar, the Revd Dr Sam Wells, described Geoffrey as 'an ordinary man who by the power of the Holy Spirit inspired ordinary people like you and me to do unbelievable things.' Quoting God's promise to Abraham, Sam continued, our vocation as 'descendants' of Geoffrey and Jane [Geoffrey's wife, who survives him] is that in us, all the families of the earth shall be blessed.
