Douglas Board (the ‘Site Owner’) operates douglasboard.com (the ‘Site’), a site where you can explore the site owner's books, writings and related material.

The site owner is committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. This policy outlines the basis on which personal data is collected and processed on the site and your rights to access, change and delete such data.

§ 1 Personal information

Personal information is information that may disclose or reveal the identity of a site user. The site owner adheres to the principle of minimal data collection. Where at all possible, the site owner waives the collection of personal data. The site owner does not store personal information for more than ten days, or use the information other than to provide the downloads requested by the user. Third party services (YouTube, Google Analytics, etc) are used as described in § 4.

b) Handling of

Personal information is required to answer contact enquiries (via telephone or email). In principal, this data will not be forwarded or disclosed to third parties. A use of personal data is carried out only to the extent necessary, in particular, for the provision of a service, or inasmuch as the site owner is obligated legally, or by court order, or if necessary, in order to prevent a misuse, which violates the general terms of use in a legal manner (Art. 6 GDPR). The site owner deletes processed personal data as soon as it is no longer needed for its intended purpose and the deletion does not conflict with any legal requirements (Art. 5 GDPR).

c) Right of access

Upon request, the site owner will inform a data subject about personal information stored about them in accordance with Art. 15 GDPR.

d) Rights to rectification, deletion and restriction of data processing

Upon request, the data subject has the right, at any time, to have incorrect personal information rectified (Art. 16 GDPR) or removed (Art. 17 GDPR). Furthermore, the data subject can restrict the processing of personal data in accordance with Art. 18 GDPR.

e) Right to object

The data subject has the right to withdraw a previously granted consent, in accordance with Art. 7 para. 3 GDPR at any time.

§ 2 Usage data

Usage data is collected, processed and used, insofar as deemed necessary to operate the site. The site stores user data, such as the IP address, requested url, http method and version, the number of bytes delivered, the http status, the referrer and user agent, together with the date and time of the request in server log files to evaluate the security and stability of the site. A consolidation of usage and personal data does not take place.

§ 3 Data security

a) Data security

All information on the site is secured against loss, damage, access, modification and distribution through technical and organisational measures. The site owner assumes no responsibility for the destruction and damage of such data.

b) Sessions and cookies

Like many websites, the site uses ‘cookies’, in which data may be stored. A cookie is a small file that is transferred to your end device, e.g. your laptop or mobile phone. For example, a cookie could serve to allow the site to identify you, anonymously, for the duration of your visit by means of a ‘session cookie’. Google analytics

The site uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service, operated by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (‘Google’), which collects and stores data, from which using pseudonyms, user profiles are created. The aforementioned user profiles serve the analysis of visitor behaviour in order to improve and personalise Google offerings on this website. Google Analytics uses ‘cookies’, which are text files placed on your computer to help the website analyse how visitors use the site. The information generated by the cookie about your use of the website (including your IP address) will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States . Google will use this information for the purpose of evaluating your use of the website, compiling reports on website activity for website operators and providing other services relating to website activity and internet usage. Google may also transfer this information to third parties where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process the information on Google's behalf. Google will not associate your IP address with any other data held by Google. Social media links

The site has a number of social media profiles with third party vendors, which can be accessed via links from the site. Following these links will take you to the respective social media site, e.g. Facebook, Twitter or YouTube. Once you access one of these social media sites, responsibility lies with the respective third party vendor, which means their privacy policy and their statements on data usage are applicable. We have no influence hereupon, however, we recommend you sign out from the respective third party site, prior to accessing a relevant social media link (from our site), to avoid unnecessary data transfer and possibly the creation of user profiles by the third party vendor. The site owner adheres to the principle of minimal data collection and therefore makes no use of social media plugins on the site.
